Yesterday I had the great honour of representing The Foundation to witness former building department trainee, Tymek, in his passing out parade which followed 26 weeks of basic training at Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire.
The sun shone and we were treated to a fantastic marching display by all the recruits and their instructors.
As part of our application process we ask all prospective trainees what they want to achieve in life and Tymek said that after learning his building skills he wanted to join the Army. Our careers advisor worked to help and encourage him with his Army application.
Having been told just how hard the basic Army training is I asked how many times he had considered dropping out and he said not once although he would have advised his younger self against doing the training!
As Tymek moves forward to join his chosen infantry regiment we wish him a very happy life within his new Army family and hope he will come and visit us when he has time.
The oak room brings back happy memories when I went on a residential training experience in January, March and April 1983 and I enjoyed the whole experience the camelia Botnar foundation way.
Well done to the Estate guys to passed their Aerial Rescue and also Cross Cutting. Not a bad achievement after only a short time training with us. ... See MoreSee Less
