- Check and fix exhausts, brakes and suspension

- No prior experience is necessary as full training is given

Learning basics of the trade and gaining work experience.
Complete Level 1 basic theory course.
By the end of Level 2, trainees should have had the opportunity to take tests and acquire:
- Driving Theory
- Emergency First Aid
- Manual handling
Examples of dept skills you can learn:
- Checking the operation of a vehicles clutch and gear selection
- Reading stored ECU fault codes with a diagnostic tool
- Checking for condition and operation of all doors, hinges, locks and fuel filler cap
- The safe mounting and lifting of a car on the two post ramp
- Use the correct tools and technique to test suspension components for excess wear
- Checking suspension springs and shock absorbers for defects
- The safe removal and refitting of car tyres on steel and alloy rims
- Re-balancing wheels after a tyre change
- Testing a vehicle’s battery and charging system
- Inspecting and changing front brake discs
- Inspecting an exhaust system for leaks and other issues
- Changing the engine oil and filter
- Changing a set of spark plugs
Increasing work experience and skill level.
Complete Level 2 basic theory course
By the end of Level 2, trainees should have had the opportunity to take tests and acquire:
- Driving Theory
- Emergency First Aid
- Manual handling
Upon the successful completion of basic servicing you will then learn how to undertake more advanced diagnosis and repairs including:
- Complete strip down of suspension components , shock absorbers and springs
- Removal and repair of key fuel system components including fuel tank , fuel lines and sender unit / pump.
- Removal and repair of key cooling system components. Including radiator, thermostat , coolant hoses and system flush.
- Complete removal of gear box and other transmission components as well as clutch, flywheel replacement.
- Remove , replace interior trim , seating as well as belts and safe removal of air bags.
- Remove , replace bodywork and panelling.
- Learn how to use a MIG welder on panels and for structural repairs.
Trainees who prove themselves and for whom it is deemed appropriate there may be opportunities to extend the placement and achieve a deeper level of work experience and skill.
Trainees might get the opportunity to work toward or achieve some part of the following:
